If you ignore small issues from the beginning, you will end up with no choice other than a total roof replacement long before really necessary.
 
A new roof should easily last 10 to 15 years before you need to have work done on it. Regular inspections let you know right away if problems are developing. Take care of your shingles and the rest of your home will stay clear of the damaging effects of water leaks.
