When it comes to water damage time is of the essence, so call your local roof repair contractor out immediately. He’ll be able to quickly spot the source of your window leaks. Water travels downward seeking the path of least resistance so your contractor will start at the top and work his way down checking for roof leaks. He’ll look to see if your roof vents’ flashing seals are still watertight or if there is any missing tiles or shingles. He will check to see if water has been windblown through the gable vents under the eaves. He’ll check the gutters to see if they are free flowing and not blocked, thereby allowing water to collect and seep through the fascia boards holding the gutter to your home.
Even if you think your problem originates with your street level windows, you still need to get a contractor out for the roof because leaks can start high above and travel down through your home’s walls looking for an escape route. Sometimes a defective window sill in the window above will direct the water through the interior walls to escape through the lower window. Roofing companies are good at figuring these things out. Just remember this - if your windows are perfectly intact, the source of the window leaks is likely from your roof or siding.
